I’m happy to announce the second alpha release of KeePassX 2.0.
The most important changes are:
– Import kdb (KeePass 1) files [#2]
– Display history items [#23]
– Implement history item limits [#16]
– Group and entry icons can be set [#22]
– Add keyboard shortcuts
– Search in databases [#24]
– Sortable entry view
– Support building Mac OS X bundles
This time we are providing a Mac OS X bundle.
Windows binaries will probably follow with the next alpha version.
Feel free to test the new version and report any issues at http://www.keepassx.org/dev.
You can get the release from http://www.keepassx.org/dev/projects/keepassx/files
or checkout the git repository at http://gitorious.org/keepassx.
Beware, this is an alpha release and not intended to be used in a production environment.
Hello! Thank you for you work, but please say me: How it work with MiniKeepAss for iOS??? If i write password in minikeepass, then the database don’t open in keepassx((((
@tekirinmoto, I had the same problem. I’m not sure if the fault is with the Keepass X or with mini keepass. However, I tried going in the other direction and it works. With Keepass X I made a new database, then put in an entry, then sent the file to my iPhone. Mini Keepass was able to open it up correctly. But if I send it back to Keepass X, it fails to open.
I have the same problem. It seems to happen if you create a new entry in the db in minikeepass. If you edit an existing entry it’s fine but a new entry will stop keepassx from opening the file.
tony.
Same problem and I’ve observed this in alpha 3 as well. :((
Fantastic to see you have continued this great work. I’m sure thousands of people worldwide benefit from it!
Waiting for a windows release! Really great news!
take a look at the parent project keepass.info for the windows release.
This is great news, thank you for your work! Is there any chance the Mac version will support autotype soon as well? For me this is pretty much the only major feature still missing.
Hey Guys,
I know you have been doing a lot of work behind the scenes in the GIT repository.
Any chance you could build a new alpha soon? (I know anyone can download the source and compile the latest version but you need the libraries and skills to do this, both of which i do not have)
Keep up the great work – This is truly a great project!
Thanks,
Matt
Thank you very much!
I hope to have a portable version that run without the need of some program installed on the host pc, that run completely portable.
KeePassX is already completely portable, just unzip it to desired location and you are ready to go.
Oh yes your right! I use it since a couple years ago, I refer me to the new KeepassX 2.0 that I´m waiting.
Thanks for your job!
Great news. Very good to hear that you are making such great progress developing 2.0. keepassx is essential for crossplatform users.
Hello,
thanks for superb work, I was able to build and run Aplha2 on Fedora 17 and my kdbx files are now accesible (using keepass & mono didn’t ever really worked for me).
Thanks a lot!
Excellent project, looking forward to the new version.
When are you going to start accepting bitcoin for donations?
Thanks.
Many thanks for all your efforts into creating this invaluable piece of software! Adding autotype would make the application perfect for me. Donation is on its way…..
Hey, thanks for the work on 2.0 Alpha.
Can you guys enable WordPress Subscriptions via JetPack on this site so we can be emailed when you update with news and releases?
Hi, thanks for the work!
I have been able to build in Ubuntu 12.04 running these apt-get commands before:
apt-get build-dep keepassx
apt-get install ubuntu-dev-tools cmake zlib1g-dev libgcrypt11-dev
KeePassX 2.0 Alpha! Cool!
Fantastic work. We all owe you a huge thank you.
i highly appreciate your hard work – thank you so much!!
Thank you so much for a proper native OSX version, I like Keepass, but I don’t know where they get the idea that Mono works…
Your work is highly appreciated! Thank you so much!
Love it! Please keep up the good work!!! 🙂
Any plans for a iPad app? I’d like to be able to look up passwords either on my imac or iPad in difference circumstances.
Thanks,
You have a good free software for ipad.
MinikeePass it’s free, works with Dropbox and reads V1 e V2 files.

When will KeePassX work with 2.0 DB? Keyfiles?
Any update on Retina display support? I love this app, but the fonts looks very blurry 🙂 Thanks!
That is hopefully fixed in alpha 3.
I refer to KeePassX Alpha 3 on a Mountain Lion System
It seems, that KeePassX doesn’t remember the last database although I marked the checkbox “Remember last database” – I have to say, that my database is on a mounted NAS volume. But that shouldn’t be a problem, I guess. At the moment I always have to manually open the database, when I start KeePassX.
Hello, eagerly awaiting Keepassx 2.0 production release. Any news on when 2.0 will be a productive or Beta release? Thanks, J
