We’re proud to announce the first stable release of the KeePassX 2 series after several years of development.
KeePassX 2.0 is using the new .kdbx (same as KeePass 2) database format.
You can import your .kdb database from 0.4 from the Database > Import KeePass 1 database.
This is a one-way process though. You can’t migrate back to the .kdb format.
New features include:
- Multiple attachments per entry
- Add custom key/value pairs to entries
- Open multiple database in one window
KeePassX 2.0 has been rewritten from scratch so some features (like showing expired passwords) are still missing.
The important changes compared to beta 2 are:
- Improve UI of the search edit.
- Clear clipboard when locking databases. [#342]
- Enable Ctrl+M shortcut to minimize the window on all platforms. [#329]
- Show a better message when trying to open an old database format. [#338]
- Fix global auto-type behavior with some window managers.
- Show global auto-type window on the active desktop. [#359]
- Disable systray on OS X. [#326]
- Restore main window when clicking on the OS X docker icon. [#326]
You can fetch the new release from the downloads page.
*high-five*
Thanks a lot, good to see KeePassX 2 alive!
Great, thanks for this new release !
Wow! Very good. We are very happy to see this release 🙂
Finally, I’m really happy.
I’ve used KeePassX for 3 years now. Auto sync with Owncloud, it never let me down.
Two thumbs up 🙂
Wow! Thank you very much!
KeePassX is the best password-manager (for me)!
One question:
Is this version supporting Qt5 or only Qt4?
2.0 is Qt4-only, 2.1 will be Qt5-only
Can someone recommend me a good Firefox plugin? Does it support yubikey challenge responses yet?
You can’t encrypt/decrypt something based on time based or one-time passwords. So no – and I wouldn’t expect it to either.
It would only add difficulty for you and add wouldn’t add any security at all.
Not aware of firefox plugins, don’t need them either. Auto-type works fine, if sites are smart enough to use a descent window title that is and not something like ‘Login’. If they do I usually request them to fix the window title explaining it’s for auto-typing passwords and all sites have fixed it so far.
Where can I find the SHA1 or MD5 checksums for the 2.0 downloads? Thanks!
Will there be plans to recreate the database sync functionality found in KeePass2? We share kdbx files between multiple users and this synchronization with saved file feature saves us from overwriting each others daily changes.
Thanks for all the hard work! KeePass2 in Mono is a resource hog, really looking forward to a native solution.
Nice, ty.
Thanks for great software…
Would like to donte in Bitcoin, when will that be possible??
Thnx. When ppa for ubuntu will be available?
Very good software!
How can we use it with modern GNUK or OpenSC tokens cryptography separated from the main PC?
How can we supply a password from a token except Yubikey?
Congratulations!
But when the official git repo will be updated?
Does it support KeePassHttp protocol for browser integration?
Thank you!!
thank you, really really really thank you!!!
Thank you for all your hard work!
@Felix
Do you plan to include the feature “Match against the URL” in one of the next releases?
This would be very helpful because many webpages change their windows title or the title changes while accessing the login page from a different subpage.
Thank you very much for your efforts!
Thanks for the lightning fast and reliable software!
One request I would make for future revisions: in the main window, add a third pane (like in Keepass2) that shows all of an entry’s fields, including custom fields. That is very helpful for many of my entries like bank accounts, credit cards, insurance policies, etc., that don’t follow the username/URL/password model. With keepassx, I have to click several times through an entry to get information like an account number.
Thanks for the great Update and the work! I really enjoy your software!
Thank you very much for the update and your good work!
Hi Felix and Team,
great work. Thank you so much!
Until it is included in the Ubuntu repositories here are installation instructions:
http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2015/12/install-keepassx-2-0-in-ubuntu-16-04-15-10-14-04/
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:eugenesan/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install keepassx
Is there a way to download a .deb installer directly for KeePassX 2.0?
